Buhari requests Senate approval of funds to settle judgment debts

President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Senate to approve over Five hundred million dollars, Ninety Eight million pounds and two hundred and twenty six billion naira to clear some outstanding judgment debts.

This request is coming barely five days before the termination of the current administration.

The letter of request was read by the Senate President; Ahmad Lawan during today’s plenary.

In the letter, Buhari explained that the money is for judgment granted against ministries, departments and agencies which had earlier been settled through promissory notes.

He stated that the payment of the judgment debt was approved by the federal executive council.
