The Kwara state Chairman of the Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN, in Kwara State, Mr Rasaq Badmus has described the 2019 General elections as a crucial time in the annals of Nigeria as according to him, it represents a decisive moment in the transformation agenda of the nation.
Badmus who spoke with newsmen after the party’s executive meeting in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, in preparation for the February-March election, said as a true Nigerian, there are reasons to be concerned following the trend of events and wrong choices being made by Nigerian electorates.
The UPN chairman said Nigerians need to read in between the lines to know who among those vying for political positions truly have the love of the people at heart.
While condemning the recent violence in Kwara State especially in the state capital, he noted that the selfish quest for power which led to the bitter politics being played by the so-called big politicians and political parties is enough to tell the people that they care less about their well being.
He also said that the absence of President Buhari and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar at Saturday’s well publicized presidential debate shows they do not only disregard Nigerians but also have no concrete plan for Nigeria.
While urging Nigerians to always evaluate the programme of political parties as well as their candidates, Badmus assured that the UPN is coming to the polls with capable and passionate candidates who will transform Kwara within a short time.
He however urged INEC and security agencies to be well prepared for any eventuality following the violence already experienced in order to have a peaceful free and fair election.
