An EFCC source has revealed that Over N320m has been traced to the account of the Goodluck Support Group, (being collation of campaign groups, that worked for the failed bid of reinstalling Jonathan in 2015 presidential election), the Punch is reporting.
The group, which organised more than 100 pro-Jonathan groups during the campaigns, was headed by Jonathan’s Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Prof. Rufai Alkali
It was gathered that the money came from the Central Bank of Nigeria account and was shared among the groups.
The source, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that the money was from the CBN’s account and went into the account of the Ministry of External Affairs Library, from where it was moved into the account of the Joint Trust Dimension Nigeria Limited.
The source said, “It was from the Joint Dimension’s account with Zenith Bank that the money was shared to various individuals and organisations for purposes that are not stated.”
The JTDNL account was coordinated by the Director of Finance of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, Nenadi Usman.
Usman, a former minister, who the commission accused of collecting N36.9m through her Zenith Bank account no. 1000158311, is reportedly in the United States.
All efforts to reach Alkali by the newspaper were unsuccessful.
However, another reliable source within the party told revealed that the Presidency had approved the money, adding that there was a memo signed by the Permanent Secretary at the Villa, authorizing that the money be paid by the CBN.
