Popular American singer, Trey Songz, has been arrested by the police. The singer was arrested for trespassing, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer which is a low-grade felony.
TMZ reports that Songz is on a 24-hour hold, and will likely be released tomorrow night. Witnesses told TMZ that Trey was being heckled by other fans in the stands and asked them to be quiet.
According to a video obtained from Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, at first, it shows Trey and the officer in a struggle. The singer throws a punch at the officer’s head and gets him in a headlock, but then the officer pins Trey to a seat.
A witness stated that the whole thing started when Trey was being heckled by some fans a few rows behind him and he asked them to stop.
The officer approached the singer, and without warning, went after him. The witness said Trey was caught off guard when the officer got physical, he defended himself.
In the video, fans shouted at the officer, telling him to get off Trey until additional officers arrived. Fans were yelling for the officer to be arrested.
According to the onlookers, a cop then allegedly got physical with the 36-year-old star without provocation and insisted the supposed altercation saw Trey acting in self-defense.
However, Trey was arrested and accused of trespassing, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.
He is on a 24-hour hold in custody and is expected to be released tomorrow night.
