Barely six hours after her resignation as a member of President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet, and exit from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, former minister of women affairs, Aisha Alhassan, has officially joined the United Democratic Party, UDP.
Alhassan had said she was parting ways with the ruling government after the APC disqualified her from contesting the governorship seat. According to her, it would be out of place for her to remain as a Minister in the government when the party that formed the government does not find her qualified to be a governor. She claimed she felt betrayed and let down by the party.
The National Chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole had explained that Mama Taraba as she is fondly called was disqualified by the APC, over alleged anti party activities. Alhassan had last year declared support for a presidential aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.
At the UDP secretariat in the state, Mrs. Alhassan said she dumped the APC because of the injustice meted on her. She said she was joining the UDP alongside all her supporters.
