An aggrieved Kwara Central senator who failed to secure a return ticket during the last primary election of APC in Kwara state has clearly re-stated his commitment to work for the success of Tinubu at the poll. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate.
Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe who represents kwara central and doubles as Chairman, Senate Committee on Health stated this at the weekend in Ilorin during a reception organised for him by his family members and supporters.
It is recalled that the federal lawmaker had in June, 2022, during his appearance on Channels Television programme monitored by Royal FM categorically blamed Governor Abdulrazaq for his inability to secure the party’s ticket for his second term in the National Assembly.
The Aggrieved senator in his latest appearance maintained that what he said on National TV regarding the APC primary elections in Kwara remains the same and nothing has changed. Oloriegbe faulted the manner the primaries were conducted, accusing Governor Abdulrazaq of hijacking the process and directing the delegates to vote for his preferred aspirants.
Meanwhile in what looked like reaction to Senator Oloriegbe’s outburst, Saliu Mustapha who emerged the APC Senatorial candidate for Kwara Central District at the primary election, says the result reflected the wishes of the party’s stakeholders and members in the district.
Mustapha cautioned party leaders against utterances in public places that could derail the modest gains already made at the State and national levels. Royal FM reports that the back and forth comes as official date for 2023 election campaign draws near.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier this year set dates for the commencement of the presidential, National Assembly, governorship and state assembly campaigns by political parties. The commission said campaign for presidential and National Assembly elections will commence on September 28, 2022 while that of governorship and state houses of assembly will commence on October 12, 2022.
