Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved the implementation of 2015-2017 promotion arrears for TESCOM teachers in Kwara.
Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, disclosed this on Thursday, in a statement.
He said, “the beneficiaries are in thousands and this is something that had been pending since 2015.”
According to him, this is part of His Excellency’s commitment to workers’ welfare within available resources.
It also “goes to show his sincerity and commitment to do the right thing even in the midst of dwindling resources.”
While noting that the present administration recognise the fact that there is a deluge of pending issues that were inherited, Ajakaye called for patience and understanding of all stakeholders.
The approval is coming barely two months after the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration promoted nearly 7,000 civil servants and backed same with commensurate financial benefits.
The Governor acknowledged that there are still outstanding promotions and arrears, some dating as far back as 2010, that were inherited.
He said his government will keep working on freeing up resources to gradually implement them while also delivering on campaign promises to the general public within available resources.
