The Deputy High Commissioner of Sierra Leone in Nigeria, Major-General Alfred Nelson William, who was kidnapped along Abuja-Kaduna last Friday, has regained his freedom.According to the Force Public Relations, Donald Awunah, William was rescued by the police on Tuesday evening and has reunited with the High Commission and his family.
While also disclosing the General is feasibly in good condition, the police spokesman said the acting Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has assured members of the Diplomatic Corps and other foreign nationals of their safety and security in Nigeria.
Although, his abductors had earlier demanded thirty million naira ransom during negotiations with embassy officials, the police however did not say if ransom was paid for the envoy’s release or not.
