Political parties in Kwara State today signed a peace accord in order to ensure a peaceful 2023 general election.
Speaking at the event organized for all political parties in the state by the kwara state police command, the police commissioner- Paul Odama warned politicians against violating the peace accord signed, noting that destruction of political party’s bill board will not be tolerated and stressed that anyone arrested will be prosecuted in line with the law of the land.
In his comment the representative of Labour Party, Abengowe Lius urged security agencies to work in line with the oat of the security agencies in ensuring level playing ground for all parties without fear or favour.
As reported by our correspondent, Olarotimi Oshin , the representative of All Progressives’ Congress (APC) Lawal Sulyman who also spoke at the event applauded security agencies and called for more sensitisation of the public on collection of permanent voter cards.
The state secretary New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Abdullahi Nasamu appealed to security agencies to monitor all local government areas in the state.
INEC representative at the event Mallam Adamu Musa, who lamented that Kwara residents are not collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as expected, called on residents to visit INEC offices for the collection of their voter cards before the rush period.
According to him over 10, 000 PVCs are yet to be collected in Offa, while over 43,000 PVCs are yet to be collected in Ilorin South.
In his remarks, the Squadron leader Benjamin Shuaib who represented the commander 3-0-3 Medium Airforce Group Nigerian Airforce, Ilorin advised all political leaders to sensitise their followers and the need to ensure peaceful co-existence among all parties
Others present at the event are representatives of security agencies which includes, Civil Defense, Airforce , Immigration and Road Safety.
