2019: Traditional council endorses Gov. Ahmed for Kwara South Senatorial seat

As Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State winds up his senatorial bid consultative tour of Kwara South, the Ifelodun local government traditional council on Thursday endorsed him for the senatorial seat.

In his palace, the Elese of Igbaja, Oba Amodu Babalola Awuni Arepo II, called on all royal fathers in the local government area to support the senatorial bid of the Governor.

Oba Amodu who described the governor as a worthy son of Ifelodun local government, appealed to sons and daughters of the area to rally round Governor Ahmed in his senatorial bid.

“We supported you to become the Governor about eight years ago and you have not failed us. We will support you once again in your Senatorial bid to represent Kwara South.”

Oba Amodu commended the governor for his numerous achievements in the local government despite obvious financial challenges.

Also speaking, the Elesa of Oke-Ode, Oba Abdulkadir Adelodun said the traditional council is united in support of the governor’sq aspiration.

Oba Adelodun who commended Governor Ahmed for according the traditional institution due respect thanked him for periodic upgrade of their stools.

“We thank you for your support to the traditional council and we urge all our people to remain united and support you in your senatorial ambition, and by the grace of God, you will succeed”, the monarch declared.

Also, at the palace of Olupako of Share, headquarters of Ifelodun local government, Oba Abdul Garba said the town is 100% behind Governor Ahmed and would give him maximum support to succeed.

Oba Garba said the town had benefitted tremendously from the present administration in the state, assuring the governor that his kinsmen would continue to stand by him in his political aspirations

While speaking during the visits, Governor Ahmed told members of the Ifelodun local government traditional council that his decision to seek senatorial seat was to attract further development to the district

Security personnel had a tough time keeping the Governor’s admirers at bay as they hailed him.

Governor Ahmed who insisted that there is no rancour among all aspirants in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) called for sustained peace and unity among partymen and women with a view to guaranteeing the success of the party in 2019.

On the issue of backlog of Local Government workers’ salaries, the Governor promised to assist the councils to clear it in no distant time.

Governor Ahmed who attributed the problem of the backlog to paucity of fund, tasked the council Chairmen to think outside the box in improving their Internal Generated Revenue to meet the needs of the people.
