written by Olarotimi Oshin June 28, 2016

By Olarotimi Oshin

The Kwara State Internal Revenue Service KWIRS has disclaimed the rumour of sending the production plant of Coca-Cola Company out of Ilorin due to tax increment, saying the company moved its plant to minimize its expenses.

Addressing news men in Ilorin, the chairman of the KWIRS, Murtala Awodu also stated that the revenue service generated eight point nine billion naira in the first six month of 2016 as against seven point tow billion generated in 2015.

He also refuted reports that KWRIS has introduced a new tax regime, noting that introduction of new tax involve legislation process which usually takes longer time.

According to the KWIRS boss, out of the eight point nine billion naira generated, six point zero-zero two billion was state government revenue while three point zero nine seven was retain earning to the KWIRS.

Awodu also warned residents of the state to resist the payment of tax to any tax collector but to the account of KWIRS through its staff.   While backing the Treasury Single Account initiative in the state, Awodu noted that the TSA has helped in the blockage of revenue leakages in the state.
