The Kwara State Governor, Doctor Abdulfatah Ahmed has advocated the review of the concept of citizenship to place emphasis on the place of residence in order to suit the current exigencies and for the benefit of all.
Governor Ahmed who made the call while playing host to Committee on Police Recruitment in Ilorin also expressed dismay over the challenges of citizenship as it affects residents in an area.
The governor argued that there is a urgent need to address the problem with a view to cementing unity among Nigerians.
Governor Ahmed also raised alarm over what he described as proliferation of fake certificates and suggested a verification exercise to scrutinise applicants for the police job and other recruitment exercises.
The Team Leader of the police recruitment monitoring team, Dr Femi Ogunsola told the governor that the committee has received petitions from concerned Nigerians over forged certificates and will work on them.
