The World Boxing Council (WBC) has sanctioned a direct rematch between heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury. Fury was floored twice in Los Angeles last weekend but seemed to have done enough to earn a famous win.
However he was forced to settle for a controversial split decision draw. Promoter Frank Warren and the British Boxing Board of Control had planned to issue a formal complaint about the scorecards after Mexican judge Alejandro Rochin scored the fight 115-111 for Wilder.
And the World Boxing Council released a statement on Friday where they called for a “direct rematch” of the heavyweight showdown.
The world boxing fraternity will now anticipate a mouthwatering heavyweight rematch between the two and expect that parties involved agree a deal and fix a date and venue soon.
