The Super Falcons of Nigeria will square up against Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger in Group B at the West African Football Union Women’s Cup in May. The draw ceremony for the second edition of the WAFU Women’s Cup took place in Abidjan on Tuesday.
Thomas Dennerby’s ladies will begin their campaign against Burkina Faso at the Stade du Parc des Sports on the ninth of May, while Niger will tackle Mali at the same venue on the same day. Defending champions Ghana will face hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Togo and Senegal in Group A.
The 10-day regional competition is organised outside the FIFA international window but foreign-based players are open to representing their various countries. The eight-nation tournament will serve as the Women’s Olympic qualifier preparation for Ghana and Mali, while Nigeria continue their build-up for the 2019 Women’s World Cup.
The competition will hold in the Ivorian capital from the eighth to the eighteenth of May.
