Unilorin produces speed limiter, set for mass production

Following the challenge given by the Federal Government to Nigerian universities to come up with a speed limiting device that can be used to curb accidents in Nigeria, University of Ilorin has taken a bold step in the production of the device.

Disclosing this while speaking with newsmen, the Director of the University’s Laboratory to Product Centre, Professor Sulyman Age AbdulKareem, said the two prototype designs automobile speed limiting device are attracting corporate investors who are bidding to invest in its mass production.

He revealed that device has been tested on a vehicle and felt comfortable with the researchers’ claims, adding that the Standard Organisation of Nigeria has also been informed of the developments.

As reported by our correspondent Olarotimi Oshin, the Speed Limiter Research Team Leader, Dr Ajiboye of the Department of Computer Engineering, University of Ilorin, explained that team was able to apply basic principles in the production of the device.
