One life was lost in early hours of Thursday along Post Office road after he was ran over by an articulated vehicle.
The incident occured at about 10:15 hours on Thursday.
The vehicle driver after the incident, sped off and escaped from the scene of accident at Post Office, but ran out of luck before Offa garage.
He was besieged by angry mobs, who beat him black and blue and almost set the vehicle ablaze.
RoyalTimes reports that it took the intervention of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, to allow the vehicle not to be set ablaze after he made to escape but was apprehended.
The PUBLIC RELATION OFFICER, Kwara NSCDC, BABAWALE ZAID AFOLABI, confirmed the unfortunate incident.
Afolabi in a statement issued in Ilorin, stated that the victim, Usman Salakani, – also a driver – was trying to collect money from the truck driver when his foot slipped off and was subsequently crushed to death by the rear tyre of the truck.
Officers of the NSCDC crisis management department and Kwara State Transport Management Authority (KWATMA), later evacuated the remains of the victim from the scene of the accident.
The truck, after it was intercepted along Offa road as the driver tried to run away.
