Traditional monarch seeks assistance of philanthropists in provision of basic amenities

written by Dada Bamise August 21, 2017

The traditional monarch of Ago OJa community in Asa Local Government Area of the State of Harmony, Dauda Ilufemiloye has called on philanthropists and various Non Governmental organizations to assist rural dwellers with provision of basic amenities.

The monarch made the call while speaking at the commissioning of a room self contained built by a Non Governmental organization, the Health Builders Initiatives for a Centenarian, Aminat Salau Alabi in the community.

According to him, if wealthy individuals and organizations are complementing government’s efforts, especially at the grassroots, it would alleviate the sufferings of the downtrodden people.

He Commended the Health Builders Initiatives for building a befitting structure for an old woman who was living in a dilapidated muddy house before and for facilitating the provision of a hand-pump borehole for the community.

Earlier, the Director of the Health Builders Initiatives, Khadijat Kehinde Kadiri said her passion for photography led her to the community where she discovered the dilapidated muddy house the Centenarian popularly known as mama ikirun was living and decided to raise funds on social media for the construction of the house.

Kehinde-Kadiri who is a lecturer in the department of mass communication, university of ilorin, said she spent a million naira on the new structure and raised the funds through social media, pointing out that the house was built within a month.

According to him, the Non Governmental organization also equipped the house for mama ikirun, empowered her to start a business and appealed to the people of the community to continue to support the old woman.
