The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally dropped the hint Ahead of the 2023 poll that he would aspire to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.
Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, who had a closed-door meeting with Northern elders under the aegis of Northern Alliance Committee, yesterday in Abuja, assured that he would make his intention to vie for the exalted seat of the presidency known soon.
Tinubu fielded questions from newsmen at the end of the parley and acknowledged that he is already consulting widely with stakeholders in the party on his alleged aspiration to administer the country.
In his words “I’m not going to turn them (Nigerians) down, but I will still effectively and widely consult, particularly brainstorm with my friends and find a date to come out openly and tell Nigerians but the president is still in office, I don’t want to distract him from all the challenges that he might face today.
“So we will consult and make our programme known to the people later and the intension is clear. So you keep guessing.”
The Chairman of the elders’ group, Amb. Lawal Mohammed Munir expressed optimism that Tinubu would emerge triumphant if he emerges the flagbearer of the party.
