Suspected herdsmen attack seminary in Taraba, shoot Catholic priest, injure students

Suspected herdsmen this morning attacked a seminary in Jalingo, Tarara state, leaving a Catholic priest with gunshot wound on the leg and many of the students seriously injured, Punch Metro reports.

It is reported that cars parked in the seminar were destroyed during the attack.

The Director of Caritas Nigeria, an agency of the Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Evaristus Bassey, disclosed this recent devbelopment in a WhatsApp message.

Father Bassey wrote,“Please Frs, pray for us. Our minor seminary in Jalingo has just been attacked by the Fulani, some students are injured, some cars destroyed, two priests beaten and one shot on the leg. They are currently receiving treatment at FMC.”

Most of the injured students are currently receiving treatement at the Federal Medical Center in Makurdi.

This attack comes three weeks after two catholic priests and 17 parishioners were killed in a similar attack by herdsmen during an early morning mass.
