Edin Dzeko‘s early opener and Daniele De Rossi‘s second-half penalty gave Roma a 2-0 lead over Barcelona and, Konstantinos Manolas completed the comeback to go through to the semi-finals.
Roma overturned last week’s 4-1 first leg defeat to reach the UEFA Champions League semi-finals at Barcelona’s expense.
In England, Liverpool booked their first Champions League semifinal in 10 years at the Etihad as Jurgen Klopp‘s men won 2-1 (5-1 on aggregate) in the Champions League quarterfinal second leg.
Trailing 3-0 from the first leg, City made the early inroad they needed when Raheem Sterling burst away and crossed for Gabriel Jesus to sweep past Loris Karius inside two minutes. Josep Guardiola’s charges dominated the remainder of the half and came close to making it two when Bernardo Silva’s deflected drive struck a post.
Second-half goals by Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino cancelled out Gabriel Jesus‘ second-minute opener to seal a comfortable 5-1 aggregate victory for the five-time European champions.
