Revolution: Policemen, Soldiers fire Tear Gas to Disperse Protesters

Policemen on Monday fired tear gas to disperse the ‘Revolution Now’ protester who converged on the National Stadium, Lagos, as activists decried the security agents attempt to break up a democratic protest by force.

According to Witnesses, policemen and soldier drafted to the scene of the protest fired gunshots and tear gas at hundreds of protesters who had converged on the National Stadium complex for the commencement of the well publicised protest march.

The protesters had arrived at the stadium as early as 7:00 today for the protest to start, but a combined team of police men who were later joined by soldiers resisted the protesters from entering the stadium.

Those who were unfazed by police presence and gathered opposite it were teargassed. One person was shot. And some arrests were also made.

Abuja Convergence will be at Unity Fountain.

The prime mover of the protest, Omoyele Sowore is spending the third day in DSS detention, following his arrest on Saturday.
