The Lagos state government will soon execute Chukwuemeka Ezeugo popularly known as Rev. King as well as others on death row in Lagos prisons.
The Supreme court had on 27 February 2016 upheld the judgment of the Appeal Court which passed the penalty of death by hanging on Rev. King.
Lagos state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Adeniji Kazeem speaking at a ministerial press conference in Lagos today told PM News that the state government was reviewing the matter with a view to taking a crucial decision very soon.
Kazeem disclosed that he visited the Lagos state prisons recently and discovered that those on death row were acting as though they had certain rights which excluded them from being executed.
He revealed that the prison officials complained about this attitude of theirs and called on the Government to act and remedy the situation.
Kazeem said the previous administration had not deemed it fit to sign documents for the execution of convicts on death row but vowed that the Ambode administration was moving towards necessary document to ensure those on death row are executed.
