The Nigerian police today paraded a thirty one years old electrician, Huber Buton, who allegedly stole his employer’s clothes and shoes worth six million naira, in Tinubu Chief Magistrate’s Court today in Lagos.
The police charged Buton with conspiracy and theft.Though pleaded not guilty. The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Edet Okoi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in August at No.14, Adeyemi Lawson, Ikoyi, in Lagos.
Okoi said the accused stole clothes and shoes worth of six million naira belonging to his employer, Mrs. Aisha Samaila.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 287 (7) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015; which stated seven years imprisonment for stealing and two years for conspiracy respectively.
The chief Magistrate Tajudeen Elias asked the defendant to pay the sum of one million naira to bail himself with two sureties with the same amount and adjourned the case until October seventeen 2019.
