The Plateau state government on Tuesday, begged citizens not to panic following suspected case of monkey pox recorded in Jos, the Plateau state capital.
The government made the call following the ongoing strike by health workers, told citizens not to panic over the issue as steps were being taken to to arrest any health challenges.
The suspected case of monkey pox was brought to the fore on Monday by the state branch of Nigerian Red Cross Society, NRCS, when the branch Secretary, Manasseh Panpe, brought it to light.
The suspected victim is currently on admission at Bingham University Teaching Hospital.
State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Kuden Kamshak, who gave the assurance of curtailing any outbreak, said the patient was responding to treatment.
