Wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience Jonathan has written a petition to the House of Representatives urging it to stop the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from further harassment.
Mrs. Jonathan is currently involved in a case with the EFCC over the ownership of $31.4 million frozen by the commission.
She has approached the court urging it to order the EFCC to unfreeze the accounts.
The petition was read to the house on Wednesday by Lovette Idisi, a legislator from Delta state.
She said; “This petition is in line with section 36 where every citizen is presumed innocent until proven guilty,”.
“Mr. Speaker, here is a petition on the constant harassment of the former first lady. It was sent to my office. With the leave of the house, I seek your permission to lay the petition before the house.”
Speaker of the house, Yakubu Dogara referred the petition to the committee of public petitions.
