Some students of Iwo Baptist High School caused a mild drama when they arrived the premise of their school wearing church robes on Tuesday.
This was coming on the heels of a directive from Osun State Christian Association of Nigeria, which stated that all Christian students in public schools in the state should wear their church garments to schools, in reaction to a court ruling allowing Muslim female students to wear veils to schools.
Gov. Rauf Aregbesola in reaction to this said students who wore unauthorised cloths other than their school uniforms to any public schools in the state would henceforth be expelled.
Aregbesola also stated that the government is not interested in any religion as being speculated and his goal is to improve education standard in the state.
He further stated it was wrong and criminal for a section or group of people to have directed some innocent students to wear choir robes to schools against court’s judgment.
He urged whoever was not satisfied with the judgment to ventilate the grievance through legitimate means rather than trying to cause crises by resorting to self help.
