The National Youth Service Corps has advised intending corps members mobilized for service to be vaccinated against meningitis before reporting to the orientation programme which starts next Tuesday.
The Coordinator of the NYSC in Osun State, Mr. Emmanuel Attah, said this in an interview in Osogbo today. He said this became necessary because of the outbreak of meningitis in the country, saying this will help to prevent intending corps members from contracting the virus.
Attah also asked corps members to come to the camp with medical reports in order to know their medical status. He stated that apart from the NYSC doctors, who would be at various camps, qualified and competent doctors have been invited from hospitals to complement their services.
He said Osun state is expecting two thousand, and three hundred corps members and o warned them against vices, saying the NYSC has zero tolerance for drugs and cultism and anybody caught would be treated according to the by-laws of the scheme.
