Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) have accused the Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige, of delay in issuing the circular for the minimum wage implementation. The union disclosed this today while staging a peaceful protest outside the Federal Secretariat in Abuja.
They also accused the minister of using thugs against them when they protested at his residence last week. The National President of the NLC, Ayuba Wabba who led the protest said “the minimum wage has been put into law, and that they don’t need to beg anyone for implementation.
Aside from the minimum wage, the labour movement is also seeking clarification on why Mr Frank Kokori who was initially appointed as the chairman of National Social Insurance Trust Fund in 2017 was replaced with the minister’s kinsman, Enejamo-Isire.
