The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) says it has rescued a 20-year-old pregnant woman from human traffickers in Saki, a border town between Nigeria and the Benin Republic.
Giving update on the arrest , the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Oyo State Command Olufemi Adetunji says the victim have been handed over to the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, (NAPTIP).
According to him, the pregnant woman was brought from Akwa-Ibom to Oyo State on the 19th of June by a suspect who promised to get her employments .
Olufemi informed that the suspect is aware of the victim’s health status before allegedly engaging her as a sex worker.
In the meantime, Coordinator of NAPTIP in Oyo State, Akanya Augustine says the agency will ensure diligent investigation and prosecution of the suspect if the case is proven beyond reasonable doubt.
