The Kwara State coordinator, National Human Right Commission, NHRC, Jumoke Olaoye, has admonished young matured girls to get involved in political activities right from their young days.
Olaoye gave the admonition today in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, at a sensitization program organized for university undergraduates on women active participation in politics and decision making.
Olaoye said about eighty percent of young girls in higher institutions are not goal oriented. She also noted that their apathetic disposition towards politics right from their youth days is one of the factors drawing women back in governance and decision making.
The female advocate while demanding dedication from the girls, charged the female gender to get more involved in political activities in order to stand the chance of occupying leadership positions.
The Chief Executive Officer of CONCED, Mrs Margret Tinuke Erinle, revealed that the event was sponsored by Global Affairs Canada in partnership with Action Aid and GLOHWOC.
She revealed that the project would be extended to more Tertiary Institutions to focus on the literate because eighty percent of women in politics are not learned.
