New Kwara commissioner of police warns against cultism, political thuggery

As the new commissioner of police, Bashiru Makama resumed duty in Kwara state, the new CP has vowed not take the issue of armed robbery, cultism, kidnapping and political thuggery, unlawful possession of firearms with levity.

 

Addressing newsmen at the police headquarters in Ilorin, Makama said his mission in Kwara state is to protect the lives and property of the people, while noting that the police is ready to lay down their lives in order to achieve the goals.

 

The commissioner warned people to desist from hate speeches and fake news due to the multi-dimensional nature of the nation. The CP also warned against unlawful assembly, stressing that politicians should play the game according to the rules.

 

Makama however warned the electorates to avoid vote selling and vote buying ahead of the forthcoming general elections adding that culprits would be dealt with no matter highly placed.

 

The police commissioner therefore solicited that media practitioners and the general public should support him in the campaign against crime stressing that the police shall protect the fundamental human rights of everyone and that the rule of law shall be their guide.
