The Kwara state command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has lamented the high rate of Indian hemp smokers and illegal handling of arms and ammunition in the state, noting that the NDLEA cannot reduce the menace alone without the assistance from government and private sector.
Parading five suspected drug dealers who were also found with functionally sophisticated locally made pistol as they were ready for operation around Baboko area of Ilorin, the state commander of the NDLEA Apeh Reuben revealed that all drug consumers are potential armed robbers.
The five suspects who according to the NDLEA commander would be handed over to the Nigeria Police ranges between nineteen years of age to twenty six.
The NDLEA boss however appealed to state government, private sector and non-governmental organization NGO to give the deserve priority attention to issue of drug in kwara state.
While noting that the drive for drug in the state among the youth had become unimaginable, Reuben however called on parents to monitor the movement of their children and the kinds of friends they associate with.
