The Nigerian Navy in a bid to rid Nigeria’s maritime of criminals said it has arrested 28 oil thieves during recent operations.
In a statement released by the Navy spokesman, Commodore Christian Ezekobe, the Navy said 13 suspects were arrested by a patrol team in Akwa Ibom State for bunkering activities.
He said two boats laden with 48 and 54 drums of illegally refined diesel were recovered and another with empty drums.
He said another patrol team deployed by Forward Operating Base Escravos has arrested three persons suspected to be oil thieves.
He also said the suspects have been handed over to the NSCDC.
