Ex-militants under the aegis of Ekpeye Liberation Group, have given multinational oil companies 14 days ultimatum to leave Ahoada East and West local government areas of Rivers state.
The ex-militants have urged the oil companies to leave the area or risk attack on their facilities.
In a statement by the spokesperson of the militant group, Obodo Obodo, the group alleged that a chunk of the oil companies doing business in the area are yet to sign any memorandum of understanding with communities.
The statement reads; “The group is aware that almost all the operating companies, Nigerian Agip oil company, NAOC, Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas, NLNG, Niger Delta Petroleum Resources , NDPR have their pipelines and other facilities criss crossing Ekpeye land.”
“In case you may want to take this demand for withdrawal from Ekpeyeland lightly, we have already blown up Well 5 in Akara Olu, Ahoada West local government area. It is owned by Agip. Other more terrible actions await non compliance with this directive.”
