The newly elected National Assembly members from Kwara state have been advised to be accessible and responsive to the people of their constituencies and their needs when they resume to duty at Abuja in few months time.
The advise was given by former National Assembly member, Mashood Mustapha, who was the keynote speaker at an open interactive seminar organized by the publisher of Tabloid News Magazine, Mr Tunde Bakare at kwara hotel Ilorin, with the theme “Building Responsive, Responsible and accountable Representation”
Mustapha urged the elected lawmakers to as a matter of importance always identify the needs of their constituency before deciding on projects to facilitate. According to him insensitivity to the plight of the people can cost a lawmaker his/her re-election bid.
Mustapha however called on the lawmakers to respect party supremacy, saying that the greatest mistake a lawmaker can make is to undermine the party that brought him or her to power.
All the three Senators, Dr. Ibrahim Oloriegbe Of Kwara Central, Architect Lola Ashiru Of Kwara South and Pharmacist Sodiq Umar Of Kwara North, appreciated the seminar, and described it as unusual type that is highly needed in the state and country. They, however, promised to strive hard towards meeting the expectations of constituents and sought for patience and better understanding of the people in achieving Kwara of our dreams.
