Harmony Holdings Limited (HHL) have hailed Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for emerging Leadership Newspaper’s ‘Governor of the Year 2020’, noting it’s a deserving award for his meritorious service to the state within his short stint in office.
Harmony Holdings, which is an investment company wholly owned by Kwara State, congratulated the number one citizen of Kwara State, saying this is yet another confirmation that his people-oriented governance is being monitored closely across the country and beyond.
Leadership Newspaper said it conferred Governor AbdulRazaq with the award “for confronting the economic challenges of Kwara State through sheer determination, for boldly enforcing fair representation and gender equality and for making it possible for the citizens of the state to feel the impact of governance within a very short time.”
Recall that the Governor had during the year led the achievement chart of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), while also conferred with the ‘He-for-She’ Award of Excellence’ by the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Dame Pauline Tallen, among other several laurels.
In a congratulatory statement issued on Monday, December 7, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Harmony Holdings Limited, Mallam Abdullahi Abdulmajeed lauded the efforts and strides of Governor AbdulRazaq in repositioning Kwara State after decades of mismanagement and maladministration by the previous handlers.
Abdulmajeed particularly acknowledged the governor’s genuine support for Harmony Holdings and her subsidiaries since his assumption of office in 2019, stating that he has provided the right template in leadership and administration for his counterparts and upcoming leaders.
“On behalf of the management and staff of Harmony Holdings Limited, I congratulate our amiable Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for clinching the most coveted award of Leadership Newspaper’s ‘Governor of the Year 2020’. We are happy to associate with a Governor whose major preoccupation is the masses and nothing more,” Abdulmajeed said.
He added: “In the last one year, he has succeeded in changing the narratives in Kwara State across sectors. What’s surprising however is that he has been doing all these in the face of an uncertain global economy, declining and unstable revenue and increasing social safety demands amid the biting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic which has resulted in huge economic shock across the world. Nonetheless, his presence is felt in education, economy, health, social investment, agriculture, critical infrastructure and other relevant sectors in the state.
“This administration has achieved the every local government impact reputation within a short time in office as there are significant and impactful government project presence felt in every single local government across the state.
“I am particularly glad about his unflinching support for Harmony Holdings Limited in the last one year. With his right leadership, Harmony Holdings’ turnaround management policies have received a huge boost. We commend his resilience and doggedness despite all odds. We are assured that Harmony Holdings Limited and its subsidiaries would take their rightful place under his watch in no distant time. Congratulations, Your Excellency, you have raised the bar once again!”
The Harmony Holdings however urged Governor AbdulRazaq to keep his eyes firm on the ball without losing focus, noting the awards are but a call on him to do more for the ordinary people of Kwara State.
