The Kwara State Internal Revenue Service, KWIRS has disclosed that the initial target of generating thirty eight billion naira for 2018 cannot be met as it has generated a tentative figure of ten point six billion naira in the half of the year.
Speaking on Royal FM program this morning, the chief executive officer of the KWIRS, Doctor Muritala Awodun assured that the revenue that will be generated this year will surpass that of 2017.
Speaking on the reasons why this year’s target cannot be achieved, Awodun said the target was target of different ministries, agencies among others in which such service were not available to generate revenue.
Also speaking on the show, the senior special assistant on media and communication to the state Governor, Doctor Muideen Akorede noted that all money generated are not to be spent as some revenue must be retained for running ministries, department and agencies.
Akorede explained that the state government through the Infrastructure Development Fund has spent billion of naira on infrastructural development such as road, institutions infrastructural development among others.
