Kwara unfolds programmes to mark golden jubilee

The Kwara State Government has announced series of activities lined up to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary celebration of the creation of the State. It also unveiled the logo and theme, “Celebrating Harmony, Shaping the Future” for the golden jubilee celebration.

 

Addressing a World Press Conference at the Governor’s Office, Ilorin today, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold said the anniversary celebration, which will be low-keyed, will kick-start with a ‘Special Juma’at Prayer’ on Friday, the nineteenth of May, 2017, which will be followed by an interdenominational church service on Sunday.

 

Other programmes set aside for the celebration include launching of free eye glasses tagged ‘Jigi Maigida’, lecture series on issues germane to governance of Kwara State, special command stage play, visit to motherless babies’ home, and to the prisons.

 

Alhaji Gold noted that the anniversary celebration will also feature commissioning of completed projects and ground breaking of new ones by the State governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed. He therefore, called on citizens and friends of the State including the media to join the government in marking the celebration.
