The Kwara State Government has called on the people of the state to desist from all forms of Sexual and Gender Based Violence in the state and be law abiding.The state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Abosede Deborah Aremu made this call in Ilorin during a sensitization visit to Agbadamu community, in Ilorin West Local Government Area of the State.
Aremu warned that child abuse, rape, stalking, child labour and trafficking, wife battering, gender inequality, sexual harassment and other social vices should be totally eradicated, in the interest of humanity.
Lending her voice, the Permanent secretary, Hajia Afusat Nike Ibrahim said that government has zero tolerance for all forms of Sexual and Gender Based Violence, forceful or early marriage, harmful traditional practices, and genital mutilation among others. She therefore warned the people against such.
The Mogaji of Agbadamu, Alhaji Jimoh Mogaji, commended the State Government for its efforts at sanitizing the people of the state as a whole. The entourage of the Commissioner included the Director, Women, Mrs Medinat Idris, Director Social, Mr Kayode James, Assistant Director Social, Mrs Bolanle Ogungbemi among others.
