The Kwara State Government says it has put in place measures to contain the spread of suspected cholera in parts of Ilorin, the state capital. The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold disclosed this today during the on the spot assessment to primary health care centers, cottage hospitals and the General Hospital, Ilorin.
Alhaji Gold, who led the government’s delegation to assess the situation, said the government has deployed resources to ensure that cholera does not spread in the state.
The Secretary to the State Government said the government has begun sensitization of the public on the need for personal hygiene and environmental sanitation. Alhaji Gold also announced that the government has supported hospitals with necessary drugs to contain the disease.
Corroborating, the State Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Atolagbe Alege said the Ministry has deployed both human and material resources needed for the cases to be localized and treated.
