Kwara Assembly calls for regulation of tradition medicine

The Kwara state house of assembly has called on the state government to Regulate outdoor Advertisement, Sale and Practice of Traditional Medicine in the State.

The motion which was raised by Hon. Magaji Abubakar Olawoyin and seconded by Hon. Owolabi Olatunde Rasaq said the practice which has enjoyed wide acceptance in the state lacks standard of dosage.

According to him, the way a medicine is prescribed to cure more than five diseases is alarming and it’s not verifiable in most cases and that the practice of mobile advertisement is disturbing as it amounts to noise pollution in areas they operate.

The House Urged the Executive Governor to direct the Ministry of Health to allocate a dedicated center or camp to traditional medical practitioners where they can practice and where interested members of the public can patronize them.
