The Kwara Likeminds Front (KLF) has applauded Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for donating 20 patrol vehicles and bulletproof vests to security agencies with the view to strengthening security in the state.
KLF said the decision of the State Governor to support the federal government in the renovation of selected barracks and police stations in the state, is laudable as this will no doubt improve their wellbeing and boost their morale.
Kwara Likeminds Front, a socio-political group advocating for good governance and rapid development of the state, stated this in a statement issued on Wednesday by its Convener, Maxwell Kolawole, in Ilorin, the state capital.
Kolawole said the donations will empower security agencies to step up patrol under a ‘Safer Kwara’ in order to protect properties and lives of Kwarans.
The KLF Convener charged kwara state government to also provide logistics support to the security agencies for them to keep the vehicles functional and serve the desired purposes.
KLF in the statement, however, frowned at the way the government has managed waste in Kwara, particularly in Ilorin, the state capital, one it said “has left the city littered with dirt than ever before.”
“Governor Abdulrazaq led administration needs to review its environmental management strategy, because whatever system is being used at the time isn’t working. The roads and streets are designed with dirt and particles evacuated from drainages.”
He stated that the situation can endanger public health and safety, saying “Government should discourage people from dumping refuses on the roads. They need to get private sector more involved and adopt a suitable policy in the process of keeping kwara state clean”
The KLF Convener said the government agency clearing drainages must move the refuse and sand from the roads across Ilorin to avoid accident and flooding.
Kolawole was the Convener of the Kwara Likeminds Political Parties, KLPP, a coalition of political parties in Kwara State during the last General elections.
