Just In: Apo Six Killings: Court sentence 2 police officers to death

A Federal Capital Territory High Court on Thursday found two former police officers, Ezekiel Acheneje and Baba Emmanuel, guilty for their roles in the killing of six Igbo traders in 2005.

Justice Ishaq Bello convicted both men to death for culpable homicide.

Acheneje and Emmanuel were specifically said to have executed Anthony Nwokike and Augustina Arebun on June 8, a day after a faceoff between the police and the six traders on the order of a senior officer, Danjuma Ibrahim.

The deceased aged between 21 and 25 years, were returning from a night party in 2005 when they were killed.

The defendants had pleaded not guilty to the allegations, as the trial went on from 2005 to date.
