A Lagos State High Court sitting in Igbosere has found two men, Ezekiel Eloka and Echezona Nwabufor guilty of the murder of a postgraduate student, Cynthia Osokogu, Premium Times reports.
Ms. Osokogu met Eloka on Facebook and was lured from Nasarawa to Lagos. She was murdered on July 22, 2012, at Cosmilla Hotel, Lakeview Estate, Festac Town
The court said the evidences before it which were cogent, complete, unequivocal and compelling proved beyond reasonable doubt that the accused killed Ms. Osokogu.
In a judgment on Thursday, Justice Olabisi Akinlade also found them guilty of the second charge of committing felony by stealing her Blackberry phone.
She said the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that the accused intended and in fact took the life of the deceased in the process of stealing her phone and belongings.
The accused were also found guilty of the first and third charge – conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to steal.
Another accused, Orji Osita, a pharmacist, was discharged of the charge of recklessness and negligence for selling prescription drugs without prescription which the accused used in drugging the deceased.
