Gunmen reportedly invade Church in Sokoto, kidnaps priests, others

Gunmen have reportedly broken into a Catholic Church in Sokoto and kidnapped the resident priests and other workers of the church.

It was gathered that the Church which is one of the parishes presided over by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Matthew Hassan-Kukah was attacked by armed hoodlums who abducted two priests and two others in the rectory of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Gidan Maikambo, in the Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State.

While explaining the unfortunate incident, the Director, Social Communications of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Reverend Father Christopher Omotosho, confirmed that the parish priest and his assistants Reverend Father Stephen Ojapa, Reverend Father Oliver Okpara, and two boys in the house were kidnapped, adding that there is no information about the whereabouts of the abductees.
