Hundreds of passengers were rescued by Greek-Italian boats after a fire outbreak on a ferry between Greece and Italy.
The Euroferry bursts into flames after leaving Igoumenistsa, the largest port in western Greece, and was headed to the Italian Port of Brindisi, about nine hours away.
Although the cause of the outbreak is unknown, it is reported that it broke out on a deck, near the island of Corfu in the Ionian Sea.
According to the Greek coastguard, 237 passengers and 51 crew were on the ferry while two hundred and eighty-eight people on board were rescued by Greek and Italian boats near Corfu in the Ionian Sea.
Meanwhile, the Police stated that three tugboats and patrol boats were sent to rescue the passengers near the island of Ereikousa before being picked up by ships in the area.
According to Greek authorities, there were no immediate reports of deaths or injuries while unconfirmed reports said ten people were not yet accounted for and a passenger with breathing problems was taken to hospital in Corfu.
