Workers at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) across the Nation held a peaceful protest today within their premises to express their grievances at the organisation’s operations.
The members of staff across the country trooped out in black outfits to register their protest. Some of the workers’ demands included replacement of obsolete equipment and operational vehicles.
Mr Nofiu Busari, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), FRCN Ibadan Chapter, said the essence of the peaceful protest is to draw attention to the state of facilities in the organisation’s stations across the country.
Similarly , in Kwara state Staff of Harmony FM, an arm of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria joined their counterpart in all the forty FM stations across the country to protest insensitivity of Federal Government to their plights.
The protesters asked for payment of their outstanding allowances, implementation of thirteenth month, leave bonus, replacement of obsolete equipment, regular training of staff for and procurement of operational vehicles for optimum service delivery among others.
Speaking on behalf of the in-house union at the protest in Idofian, Chairman, Radio and Television Theater Art Workers Union, RATTAWU, Comrade Emmanuel Musebu called management to address their plight within three week so as not to embark on full strike.
