The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said four persons died while one was rescued in the building collapse at Oye Sonuga Street, Palm Avenue, in the Mushin area of Lagos.
NEMA South West Zonal Coordinator, Ibrahim FARINLOYE, made this known in an interview with reporters adding that two males and two females died, while one person was rescued alive in the building collapse.
According to an earlier statement by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Omotayo Bamgbose-Martins, upon visiting the site of the incident, which people say is a building of about 40 years old, the commissioner directed that the building be pulled down immediately for safety reasons and to forestall further collapse.
He directed the Lagos State Building Control Agency and the State Materials Testing Laboratory to unravel the cause of the collapse.
