The former Chairman of the Kwara State People’s Democratic Party, Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo has said he will not hand over the party’s properties in his possession unless a legal PDP executive body is constituted in accordance with the provisions of the party’s constitution.
Oyedepo who is now a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC, left the PDP following what he called political incompatibility with the new helmsmen of the party.
Addressing a press conference today in Ilorin office, Oyedepo said since he left the PDP on the first of August, 2018, he has been waiting for the party to put its house in proper shape so he could properly hand over its properties to a lawfully constituted executive.
According to the APC Chieftain, the present executive of the Kwara PDP, headed by Engineer Kola Shittu is illegal and therefore cannot be the proper people to whom the properties of the party can be entrusted.
While noting that the executive members under him during his leadership at the party were not dissolved by the national executive of the party, he added that something must be done to make the executive legal after his departure.
The former PDP Chairman stressed that nobody in the present PDP executive can come forward to claim any property from him and that he cannot do any political business with the PDP unless that executive body is made legal.
