After few weeks of threat from Unilorin students to block major roads and ministries in Kwara, Former Kwara Commissioner, Arinola Lawal has appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities to suspend its ongoing industrial action and return to the classroom.
The one-time Commissioner for Business, Innovation, and Technology in Kwara State, who is also seeking a position in the Kwara State House of Assembly stated that Education is an important sector in society and urged the university unions to discuss it with the federal government.
Arinola, the daughter of former Kwara Governor Muhammed Lawal insisted that students should be in school because they are the leaders of tomorrow.
“Education is very important, students should be in school, I want to appeal to ASUU to end the strike and instead have a round table discussion.”
The Kwara Assembly aspirant during the week visited twelve wards in the Ilorin East Local Government Area to seek ahead of the primary election in the All Progressives Party.
The visited wards are; Magaaji Are 1, Magaaji Are Ward 2, Gambari Ward 1, Gambari Ward 2, Sango Ward, Ibagun Ward, Oke-oyi, Oke-Ose/Alalubosa, Maya Ile Apa, Agbeyangi Gbadamu Ward, Apado Ward, Apado Ward, Marafa Pepele ward.
